baf /baf/ n. a place to share ideas across disciplines and get feedback from a broader audience
The aim of the BAF is to bring together researchers of the Ancient Near East specialising in different areas and disciplines. Philologists, Archaeologists and Art Historians working in Mesopotamia, Anatolia, the Levant, Egypt, Iran, the Aegean, the Arabian Peninsula and Central Asia are all warmly invited to take part!

It is our pleasure to welcome as keynote speaker of the first BAF Professor Andreas Fuchs, Universität Tübingen.

Participants are encouraged to give a talk. You choose the topic of your talk, the only prerequisite is that it last not more than 10 minutes (+ 5 min discussion). You are there to share insights with scientists from other disciplines, so keep it sharp but make it simple! The spirit of the BAF is open and informal. Use this opportunity to test ideas, advertise projects and develop collaborations with a wider peer group.

Do you have a new take on an old question? Are you working on a text and would like to know if similar texts exist in neighbouring languages? Are you recruiting team members for an excavation? Did you develop a computer programme for your field that can be used in other fields as well? Are you active in public outreach and would like to discuss your methods? Would you like to present your latest book? ... Come to the BAF!
